Yaama (hello), my name is Lita, and welcome to Platypus Counselling Services.

I am a certified, registered and insured Counsellor of Aboriginal Heritage.  The Platypus is my main totem and this is where the name Platypus Counselling Services derived from.

I have extensive 'lived' experiences, dealing with youth trauma, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and Suicidal Ideation.  I am also trained and certified in working with youth with special needs and I have worked with youth for almost 20 years with special needs and general wellbeing and mental health issues, including those struggling with sexual / gender identity.

My passions are my family, my pets, my friends, my culture, and helping people and have also recently become an Aboriginal Kinship Carer. Over the last 17 years, I have also volunteered with Scouts Australia and I currently work for an Aboriginal Corporation. Previous to my current employment, I worked in a Secondary College.

I currently am contracted working with a big Aboriginal Organisation in workshops that they run throughout Victoria, on a regular basis. I offer counselling for organisations, groups, individuals and families. I also offer a discount to individuals on a health care card or a pension.

Although my specialty is working with children and youth, I can assist with adults.

I have a broad range of qualifications and experience, and happy to provide further information on these upon request.
